Rusa Deer

S.C.I
recognizes two subspecies of Rusa Deer in their Record Book of Trophy Animals
Sth Pacific. They are Javan Rusa and Molluccan or North Island Rusa Deer. Both
have very limited free range hunting available in Australia and are usually
hunted on a game ranch.
Mary River Australian Safaris is unique in being able to offer both these species
in Northern Territory and Queensland hunting areas. Both subspecies thrive in
the local climate and world class trophies are awaiting your hunting safari
to the Australian outback.
Hunts arranged from late May to November. The Rusa rut in July/August and can be very vocal and aggresive. Hunting is by 4WD because of the large areas and be prepared for a lot of glassing to find a record book trophy.
Rusa Deer are a relaxing and fun hunt, large numbers of these deer are seen each hunting day, however the big guys aren't big because they are stupid!! They can actually lay down and hide like a Cottontail when being hunted.
